ExhAust – new Australian Music in New York
Update! CD’s from the concert are now available! If you’d like one, shoot me an email and I’ll get one out to you.
On October 18, 2011 the ExhAust New Music Ensemble exploded onto the stage at the Galapagos Art Space in Brookyln with a debut concert that featured works composed by a handful of the fantastic next-generation of talent from downunder.
The group was the result of many months of hard work by myself and the brilliant pianist Lisa Moore. The idea was to form a group of Australian ex-pat musicians living in New York, who would program, commission and perform Australian works in the Big Apple. A quick search of the city yielded a bunch of enthusiastic Australian musos, as well as some keenly talented Americans who couldn’t resist the temptation of playing unknown works from downunder (nor the promise of Tim-Tams in rehearsals). After an incredibly successful fundraising campaign the group was up and away.
